2018-2019 Audi Q5, SQ5 Recall

Approximately 12,600 model-year 2018-19 Audi Q5 and SQ5 SUVs are being recalled due to brake issues. The brake master cylinder casting may be too short, which could cause a sudden loss of brakes, increasing the risk of a crash.

Audi began notifying owners on May 3. Owners can call the automaker at 800-253-2834 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will inspect the brake master cylinder, replacing it if necessary.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
