2021-2022 Audi Backup Camera Recall

Audi is recalling certain model-year 2021 A8 and S8 vehicles, and model-year 2022 A5 Sportback, A4 Sedan, E-Tron GT, Q3, Q5, RS6 Avant, A3 Sedan, S5 Sportback, Q5 Sportback, Q7, Q8, RSQ8, SQ7, SQ8, and S2 Sedan vehicles due to issues with the rear-view camera. A software issue may prevent the rear-view image from initially displaying when the vehicle begins to reverse, increasing the risk of a crash.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on Dec. 17. Owners may call Audi at 800-253-2834 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To resolve the issue, dealers will update the infotainment unit parameters software.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
