Approximately 607,800 model-year 2018-20 Honda Odyssey minivans, model-year 2019-20 Passport SUVs, and model-year 2019-21 Pilot SUVs are being recalled due to software issues. Incorrect instrument panel control module software can cause the instrument panel to not display critical information, such as engine oil pressure, speedometer, and gear selector position. Additionally, it can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. Either malfunction increases the risk of a crash.
Honda will begin notifying owners on Sept. 23. Owners can call the automaker at 888-234-2138 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.
To fix the problem, dealers will reprogram the instrument panel control module software.
Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
