Audi is recalling approximately 3,400 model-year 2019-21 A6 sedans and A7 coupes; model-year 2020-21 A6 Allroad wagons, S6 sedans, and S7 coupes; and model-year 2021 RS6 sedans and RS7 coupes due to airbag issues. The score line on the passenger side airbag may not have been manufactured correctly which could lead to improper deployment, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Audi will begin notifying owners on May 7. Owners can call Audi at 800-253-2834 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect the airbag score line and repair it, as necessary.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
