Approximately 10,000 model-year 2020 Honda Passport and Pilot SUVs are being recalled because the certification label may have been printed with ink that can be wiped away with a solvent, removing the gross axle weight rating and gross vehicle weight rating information, increasing the risk of overloading and a crash.

Honda will begin notifying owners on March 17. Owners can call the automaker at 888-234-2138 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will replace the certification label.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
