Honda is recalling certain model-year 2021 Accord Sedan, Accord Hybrid, CR-V, and Ridgeline vehicles; and model-year 2022 Insight and CR-V Hybrid vehicles due to seat belt issues. The automatic locking retractor on the second-row center seat belt assembly may deactivate improperly, resulting in an unsecured child restraint system, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on January 17, 2022. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 888-234-2138 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will replace the second-row center seat belt assembly.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
