Approximately 400 model-year 2018 Mercedes-Benz C300, C300 4Matic, and Mercedes-AMG C63 and C63S convertibles, coupes and sedans are being recalled due to an issue with the rear window. Incorrect bonding of the rear window may cause the window to loosen and detach from the vehicle, which could become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Mercedes-Benz will begin notifying owners on Nov. 2. Owners can call the automaker at 800-367-6372 or the National Highway Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will rework the rear window bonding.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
