Approximately 8,000 model-year 2018 Genesis G80 and model-year 2017-18 Genesis G90 luxury sedans equipped with 3.3-liter turbocharged engines are being recalled due to oil supply pipe issues. The turbocharger oil supply pipe may have a loose seal which could cause the oil to leak onto the exhaust manifold, increasing the risk of a fire.

Genesis manufacturer Hyundai began notifying owners on Sept. 6. Owners can call the automaker at 855-371-9460 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will replace the turbocharger oil supply pipe.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
