Approximately 212,000 model-year 2019-20 Honda Odyssey minivans are being recalled for rearview camera issues. Water may get into the rearview camera mounting holes and the camera lens, causing a distorted image or the screen to go black. If the rearview camera view mode is set to view as top-down, the image may not display at all. Also, the image will disappear if the view mode is switched to another mode in a bright environment.

Honda will begin notifying owners on Sept. 23. Owners can call the automaker at 888-234-2138 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will replace the rearview camera.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
