GM is recalling approximately 14,900 full-size SUVs due to fuel pump issues. Affected vehicles include model-year 2021 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL. The fuel pump power control module may cause the fuel pump to operate intermittently or fail, which can interrupt flow to the engine, causing an engine stall and increasing the risk of a crash.

GM began sending owner notification letters on Nov. 8. Owners can call Chevrolet at 800-222-1020; Cadillac at 800-458-8006; GMC at 800-462-8782; or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To resolve the issue, dealers will replace the fuel pump power control module.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
