Approximately 10,600 model-year 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB250 SUVs are being recalled because the rear spoiler above the tailgate may not have been welded correctly, which could cause part of the spoiler to detach from the vehicle, becoming a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.
Mercedes-Benz will begin notifying owners on Oct. 13. Owners can call the automaker at 800-367-6372 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.
To remedy the issue, dealers will inspect the rear spoiler and replace it, as necessary.
Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
