Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling approximately 160.200 model-year 2019-20 Ram 1500 pickup trucks because the truck’s pedals may interfere with the all-weather floor mats, potentially causing the pedals to get stuck while driving and increasing the risk of a crash.

FCA did not immediately announce an owner notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

Affected customers will receive recall notices. In the interim, FCA advises those who ordered all-weather mats as a factory-installed item to contact their dealers, who will modify the mats pending replacement with a new design. Should owners observe insufficient accelerator pedal clearance or they are unable to visit their dealers in a timely fashion, FCA recommends they remove their all-weather floor mats until they are able to obtain service.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
