Approximately 6,500 model-year 2019-20 Mercedes-Benz G550 4Matic and G63 AMG 4Matic vehicles are being recalled because the electrical resistors may malfunction, resulting in the deactivation of the antilock brake system and the electronic stability program, increasing the risk of a crash.

Mercedes-Benz will begin notifying owners on April 14. Owners can call the automaker at 800-367-6372 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To remedy the issue, dealers will inspect the differential locking modules and replace them, as necessary.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
