Approximately 6,200 model-year 2013-16 Land Rover Ranger Rover SUVs and model-year 2014-16 Range Rover Sport SUVs involved in a previous recall are being recalled again due to issues with the keyless vehicle latching system. The doors may appear to be closed but may be unlatched, which could cause the door to open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of a crash.
Land Rover began notifying owners on Aug. 28. Owners can call the automaker at 800-637-6837 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.
To fix the problem, dealers will inspect for any issues with the keyless vehicle system and update the KV latch software.
Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
