Kia is recalling approximately 72,848 model-year 2013-2014 Optima vehicles that were repaired under a previous recall. The low pressure fuel hose may be damaged or missing heat-protective tape, potentially resulting in a fuel leak and increasing the risk of a fire.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on April 15, 2022. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 800-333-4542 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.
To resolve the issue, dealers will replace the low pressure fuel hose.
Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
