Published
Volvo Trucks North America has issued a safety recall affecting approximately 392 vehicles. The recall was filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on September 28, 2026 under campaign number 26V619000.
The Defect
Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2025-2027 VNL (4) and 2026-2027 VNR (4) vehicles equipped with a tanker application package. Inaccurate axle load calculations may cause reduced braking performance while transporting smoothbore tanker trailers.
The Risk
Reduced braking performance can require a greater distance to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Remedy
Dealers will install new software to disable the dynamic trailer braking calculations, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 27, 2026. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX2610. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on October 5, 2026.

A recall repair is free — but if your Volvo has been in the shop repeatedly, or the fix has not held, you may have a lemon law claim worth far more than the repair. See our Volvo problems and recalls hub or Check if you qualify →.
