2024 Volkswagen Tiguan Recall: Back Over Prevention (NHTSA 26V321000)

Published · Updated

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. has issued a safety recall affecting approximately 8 vehicles. The recall was filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on May 20, 2026 under campaign number 26V321000.

The Defect

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2024 Tiguan vehicles previously repaired under recall 25V082. An error may occur in the camera control unit at vehicle startup, resulting in the rearview camera image not displaying as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

The Risk

A rearview camera that does not display an image can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Remedy

Dealers will update the camera control unit software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 4, 2026. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298.
