Most common Alfa Romeo warranty defects
Alfa Romeo’s recent US lineup is three vehicles — the Giulia sedan, the Stelvio SUV and the Tonale compact SUV — and its 2020–2026 recall record is concentrated in brakes, rearview camera and radio electronics, airbag sensing and the Tonale plug-in hybrid’s electrical connections. Because the Alfa Romeo Basic Limited Warranty runs 4 years or 50,000 miles, defects need to be reported, and repaired, well inside that window to support a claim.
Tonale brake pedal collapse
Two recalls cover the same failure on the Tonale and the related Dodge Hornet: the brake pedal may collapse and cause a loss of brake function. Campaign 24V-752 covers 2024–2025 Tonale models, and 25V-846 expanded it to 2024 Tonale plug-in hybrids. In both, dealers reinforce the brake pedal arm. A pedal that feels soft, sinks further than usual or feels loose after the repair is a defect likely to cause serious injury, and many state lemon laws treat that type of defect more strictly than ordinary ones, requiring fewer repair attempts. If pedal feel changes after the reinforcement, stop driving and have the Tonale towed in so the visit is documented on a repair order rather than described later.

Tonale plug-in hybrid cable overheating and fire risk
The 2023–2024 Tonale plug-in hybrid was recalled because the 12-volt battery positive cable and/or the high-voltage connector cable may not be tightened properly, which can overheat the electrical connections and cause a fire while parked or driving (23V-623). Owners were advised to park outside and away from structures until dealers inspected and tightened the connections. The same PHEVs were recalled because the pedestrian alert siren may be missing or disconnected (23V-696), and 2023–2025 Tonales were recalled because the display may not show the rearview camera image (25V-246). For 2026, Alfa Romeo sells the Tonale in the US only with a turbocharged 2.0L gasoline engine, so the plug-in hybrid is a discontinued variant. Burning smells, charging faults or electrical warnings should be documented each time.

Giulia and Stelvio rearview camera and radio failures
The printed circuit board and software for the rearview camera may contain defects that keep the camera image from displaying properly on 2020–2025 Giulia and Stelvio models (25V-667). The remedy goes beyond a software flash: dealers inspect and replace the radio as necessary and update the rearview camera software. The same models have a pattern of fixes that needed redoing: 2017–2024 Giulia and 2021–2024 Stelvio tire placards were recalled for incorrect information (24V-512), and some 2023 Stelvios were recalled again after that remedy (24V-857). Because the fix can involve replacing the radio itself, a camera, screen or audio fault that returns afterward is strong evidence of an unresolved defect. Note the date, the screen message and whether the problem appears at start-up or only in reverse.

Giulia and Stelvio brake system recalls
Brake recalls run through the Giulia and Stelvio’s recent history. Hard braking can cause the ABS hydraulic control unit rotor shaft to separate, reducing braking assist and disabling ABS on 2019–2021 Stelvio and 2020–2021 Giulia models (21V-309); dealers replace the unit. The fastener connecting the brake pedal to the brake booster may have been improperly assembled on 2019–2020 Giulia and Stelvio models, which can let the pedal detach from the booster (24V-943). Earlier, 2020 Giulias were recalled for rear brake discs that may fracture (20V-714), and 2017–2020 cars with carbon ceramic brakes for excessive clamp force that can fracture the rotor (23V-382). Many of these cars are now past 4 years or 50,000 miles, but if yours is still covered, record every ABS, stability or brake warning.

Giulia and Stelvio airbag sensor, fuel leak and headlight recalls
A seat belt buckle switch sensor may be improperly connected, preventing the front seat airbag from deploying as intended, on 2017–2024 Giulia and 2018–2025 Stelvio models (24V-510); dealers repair the connection. Fuel line sensor housings that can crack and leak fuel were recalled on 2020–2021 Giulia and Stelvio models (21V-878), and the campaign was later expanded to more 2021 Giulias (24V-306). On 2024 Giulias, a misrouted wiring harness can cause the headlights to fail (25V-845). An airbag warning lamp, a fuel odor or a headlight outage is a safety defect. Keep photos of dash warnings and ask the dealer to print any stored fault codes on the repair order, even when the light has gone out by the time you arrive.

Signs your Alfa Romeo may be a lemon
- Brake pedal feel changes after the recall. Your Tonale’s pedal was reinforced under 24V-752 or 25V-846 and still feels soft, low or loose.
- The camera or radio fails again. Your Giulia or Stelvio radio was replaced or reprogrammed under 25V-667 and the rearview image or screen drops out again.
- Repeated electrical warnings on a Tonale PHEV. Charging faults, burning smells or hybrid-system warnings return after the cable connections were inspected and tightened.
- The airbag light keeps coming back. The airbag or seat belt warning reappears on your Giulia or Stelvio after the 24V-510 connection repair.
- Brake and ABS warnings with no lasting fix. ABS, stability control or brake warnings keep returning on a car still under its 4-year/50,000-mile warranty.

What Alfa Romeo’s warranty means for a claim
The Alfa Romeo Basic Limited Warranty covers 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, and comes with 24/7 roadside assistance. Alfa Romeo states that the new vehicle limited warranty stays with the vehicle and transfers to the second owner. 2017 through 2023 model year vehicles also came with a 1-year/10,000-mile complimentary service plan. Certified Pre-Owned Alfa Romeos carry a 5-year/100,000-mile Maximum Care Limited Warranty with a $0 deductible for covered repair visits. Tonale plug-in hybrid owners should check the hybrid-system coverage listed in their warranty booklet.
Alfa Romeo recalls are filed by FCA US LLC, the Stellantis company that also recalls the Dodge Hornet, and several Tonale campaigns cover both vehicles. When you visit the dealer, ask that the repair order list the Alfa Romeo recall code — for example, B7B for the 24V-752 brake pedal recall or A2C for the 25V-667 camera recall — along with your complaint in your own words. If the remedy is “inspect and replace as necessary,” ask that the repair order state whether a part was actually replaced.
Alfa Romeo recalls and problem reports
No Alfa Romeo articles match that exact combination — but that does not mean you do not have a claim. Repeat repair attempts, days out of service, and warranty status matter more than whether a recall exists.
A recall is not a claim
An open recall on your Alfa Romeo is not, by itself, a lemon law case — and a recall that has already been repaired does not mean you don’t have one. Recalls are safety campaigns run by the manufacturer; lemon law claims turn on how your specific vehicle has performed under warranty. What matters is the record: how many times you brought the vehicle in for the same problem, how many days it has spent out of service, and whether the defect substantially impairs its use, value, or safety while covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
An Alfa Romeo that has been back to the dealer repeatedly for one persistent issue can qualify with no recall on file, while a vehicle with three open recalls may not qualify at all if each was repaired on the first visit. Repair-attempt and days-out-of-service thresholds vary from state to state, so the same facts can play out differently depending on where you bought or registered the vehicle. Keep every repair order — the paper trail is the case.
Who handles your Alfa Romeo claim
Lemon Law Group Partners is a law firm dedicated to lemon law. Jason S. Hegedus founded it in 2012 after years as a defense attorney for a major automaker in Michigan, and he has litigated lemon law claims since the late 1990s. That background shows us how manufacturers evaluate and defend claims — and we use it for consumers.
Your Alfa Romeo case is handled by a team of more than twenty attorneys, paralegals and case managers. We collect and review your repair orders, deal with the manufacturer and its lawyers, and pursue a buyback, replacement or cash settlement where your state’s law allows. No attorney’s fees unless we recover.
Jason S. HegedusManaging Partner & FounderFrequently asked questions about Alfa Romeo lemon law claims
My Tonale’s brake pedal was reinforced under the recall. Can it still be a lemon?
It can, if the problem continues or other defects pile up. A recall repair addresses a known defect, but if the pedal still feels wrong, or the vehicle returns for other safety-related failures, those visits add to the repair history. Brake defects are the kind many states treat more seriously. Keep the recall letter for 24V-752 or 25V-846, every repair order and a written note of when and how the pedal problem appears.
Who is the claim against for an Alfa Romeo?
Alfa Romeo vehicles sold in the US are warranted and recalled by FCA US LLC, part of Stellantis. That is the company named in Alfa Romeo recall filings with NHTSA, including the Tonale campaigns shared with the Dodge Hornet. The dealer performs the repairs, but a lemon law claim is generally brought against the manufacturer, so your repair orders from any authorized Alfa Romeo dealer count toward the same history.
I bought my Stelvio used. Does the Alfa Romeo warranty still apply?
Often, yes. Alfa Romeo states that its new vehicle limited warranty stays with the vehicle and transfers to the second owner, so a Stelvio still within 4 years or 50,000 miles of its original in-service date keeps that coverage. A Certified Pre-Owned Stelvio adds the 5-year/100,000-mile Maximum Care Limited Warranty. Some state lemon laws cover used vehicles still under the manufacturer’s warranty, and written warranties can also support a federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act claim.
My Giulia’s camera went blank again after the radio was replaced. What now?
Return to the dealer and have the repeat failure written up. Recall 25V-667 covers 2020–2025 Giulia and Stelvio models whose rearview camera circuit board and software may not display the image properly, and the remedy includes radio replacement as necessary. A failure after that repair shows the defect was not fixed. Record when the screen fails, take a photo or video, and ask that the repair order note the earlier recall work.
Can I still get help with a 2024 Tonale plug-in hybrid now that the PHEV is no longer sold?
Yes. The 2026 Tonale is sold in the US only with a gasoline engine, but your 2024 plug-in hybrid remains covered by its warranty and recalls. The 2024 Tonale PHEV has been included in the 23V-623 cable overheating recall and the 25V-846 brake pedal recall. If hybrid-system or brake problems repeat, the discontinued status does not affect your rights, though parts timing may lengthen repairs.
