Volkswagen is recalling certain model-year 2022 Tiguan SUVs due to an issue with the brake pipe. The nut that secures the brake pipe near the right-front wheel may be loose and could allow brake fluid to leak, extending the distance required to stop and increasing the risk of a crash.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on Dec. 31, 2021. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 800-983-5298 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.
To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect and tighten the brake pipe nut, as necessary.
Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
