Ford is recalling certain model-year 2022 F-150 vehicles due to a steering column wiring issue. The power-adjustable telescoping steering column connector wiring may be too short and can become damaged or separate if the adjustable steering column is fully extended, increasing the risk of an injury in a crash.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 9, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect the steering column wiring harness and repair the wiring, as necessary.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
