Ford is recalling 31,339 model-year 2022-2023 Transit vehicles due to an issue with the HVAC system. In affected vehicles, the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning system’s controls, including those for defog and defrost, may become inoperative. The loss of the ability to control the defrost or defog function decreases the driver’s visibility under certain driving conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on November 7, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To resolve the issue, dealers will update the remote climate control module software.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
