Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 39,000 model-year 2021 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles due to a fire risk. An engine compartment fire may occur while driving or parked, increasing the risk of injury. Ford has not identified a cause for the fires.

Ford began notifying owners of the safety risk via mail on May 23, 2022. A second letter will be mailed once the remedy is available. The remedy is still under development. Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the remedy is performed.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
