Mercedes-Benz is recalling certain model-year 2021 S580, and model-year 2022 EQS450, EQS580, and S500 vehicles with an active and connected Mercedes me connect account. The MBUX infotainment system could allow activation of the television and internet display while driving, causing a distraction for the driver and increasing the risk of a crash.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on January 28, 2022. Owners may contact Mercedes-Benz customer service at 800-367-6372 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.
To resolve the issue, Mercedes-Benz has updated their computer server to correct the problem and owners will not be required to visit a dealer for this recall.
Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
