Mercedes-Benz is recalling 11 model-year 2020 GLE350 and GLE450 4Matic SUVs due to issues with the airbag module. In the event of a crash, while the temperature in the passenger cabin is very high, the passenger front airbag deployment may be delayed or may not completely deploy, increasing the risk of an injury.

Mercedes-Benz will begin notifying owners on Aug 13. Owners can call the automaker at 800-367-6372 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will replace the passenger airbag module.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
