Approximately 250 model-year 2020 BMW 330i sedans, Z4 M40i and Z4 sDrive30i sports cars, and Toyota Supra sports cars (the Z4 and Supra were co-developed by BMW and Toyota based on a shared platform) are being recalled due to headlight issues. The headlight control units may fail, causing a loss of one or both of the headlights, reducing the driver’s visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

BMW will begin notifying owners on Jan. 17. Owners can call BMW at 800-525-7417, Toyota at 888-270-9371 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will replace the headlight control units.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.

Lemon Law Group Partners can assist car owners if they encounter any problems during the recall process with the manufacturer.
