Nissan is recalling 203,223 model-year 2020-2023 Titan and Frontier vehicles due to  a defective transmission parking pawl that may not engage when the vehicle is shifted into park. As a result, the vehicle could roll away unexpectedly when parked, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by November 1, 2022. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 800-867-7669 or the National Highway Traffic Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

A remedy is currently under development. Owners are advised to use the parking brake every time they park their vehicle.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
