Approximately 22,600 model-year 2019 Mazda3 sedans and hatchbacks equipped with manual dimming mirrors are being recalled due to issues with the rearview mirrors. The adhesive between the interior rearview mirror and the housing may not be properly bonded, allowing the mirror to detach from the housing, increasing the risk of a crash.
Mazda will begin notifying owners on Aug 30. Owners can call the automaker at 800-222-5500 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.
To fix the problem, dealers will replace the interior rearview mirror assembly.
Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
