Chevrolet has announced a recall on approximately 6,600 model-year 2019 Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks, and model-year 2020 Silverado 2500/3500 and GMC Sierra 2500/3500 heavy-duty pickups equipped with Rugger Liner hard tri-fold tonneau covers due to issues with the attachment system. The attachment system may not properly secure the cover to the bed, possibly creating a road hazard if the cover separates, increasing the risk of a crash.

Chevrolet and GMC manufacturer GM began notifying owners on May 28. Owners can call Chevrolet at 800-222-1020, GMC at 800-462-8782 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will install improved attachments.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
