Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has issued a recall on approximately 160,200 model-year 2019-20 Ram 1500 Laramie and Big Horn pickup trucks equipped with adjustable pedals and factory-installed all-weather floor mats because the pedals may not have sufficient clearance with the floor mats.  The floor mats could interfere with the accelerator pedal while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

FCA will begin notifying owners on Oct. 16. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will modify the driver’s floor mat until they can be replaced with a new all-weather mat.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
