Approximately 4,300 model-year 2019-20 BMW Z4 roadsters and model-year 2020 Toyota Supra coupes are being recalled due to headlamp issues. The plug that covers the headlamps’ horizontal adjustment mechanism may have been inserted into the space for the vertical plug and the plug for the vertical adjustment may have been inserted into the space for the horizontal plug, diminishing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.
BMW will begin notifying owners on Oct. 19. Owners can call the automaker at 800-525-7417 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.
To fix the problem, dealers will inspect the headlamp’s vertical and horizontal adjustment plugs, correcting them as necessary.
Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
