Nissan is recalling approximately 127,000 cars and trucks equipped with Continental brand tires. The vehicles affected are model-year 2018-21 Titan pickup trucks and model-year 2019-20 Altima sedans. On the affected vehicles, one or more tires may have been cured for too long during production and could develop a break in the sidewall, resulting in sudden air loss or belt edge separation, increasing the risk of a crash.

Nissan will begin notifying owners on April 28. Owners can call the automaker at 800-867-7669 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect the tires and replace them, as necessary.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
