Approximately 108,000 model-year 2018-19 Honda Odyssey minivans are being recalled due to an issue with the latch assemblies for the power sliding doors. The latch assemblies may stick and not properly latch to the door strikers, which could cause the doors to open while moving, increasing the risk of injury.

Honda began notifying owners Dec.20. Owners can call Honda at 888-234-2138 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will replace the left and right power-sliding door rear latch assemblies.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
