2017-2019 Subaru Impreza and Crosstrek Recall

Subaru is recalling approximately 466,000 model-year 2017-19 Impreza sedans and hatchbacks and model-year 2018-19 Crosstrek SUVs due to an issue with the ignition coils. The ignition coils could degrade over time and cause starting or stalling issues, increasing the risk of a crash.

Subaru will begin notifying owners on June 14. Owners can call the automaker at 844-373-6614 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To remedy the issue, dealers will check and update the engine control module programming and replace ignition coils, as necessary.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
