Approximately 600 model-year 2017-19 Ferrari GTC4Lusso coupes are being recalled due to door lock issues. Tension on the door lock mechanism may result in the car door being unable to be opened by using the external door handle, increasing the risk of injury in the event of an emergency.

Ferrari began notifying owners on April 14. Owners can call the automaker at 201-816-2668 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will install new door locks and cables.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
