Ford is recalling 18,808 model-year 2017-2018 Super Duty F-250, F-350, and F-450 4×4 vehicles due to an issue with the driveshaft.  A radial damper inside the driveshaft may move out of position over time, which can cause a driveshaft imbalance and result in a fracture. A fractured driveshaft can cause a loss of drive power. Also, a vehicle rollaway could occur while parked if the parking brake is not engaged. Either of these scenarios increases the risk of a crash.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on January 9, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To resolve the issue, dealers will replace the driveshaft.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
