Ford is recalling over 310,000 model-year 2016 Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 trucks due to an airbag issue. The steering wheel clock spring could become contaminated with dust and cause a disconnection of some or all of the electrical connections with the airbag. As a result, the driver’s airbag may not deploy as intended, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on July 5, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To resolve the issue, dealers will replace the steering wheel clock spring.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
