Approximately 900 model-year 2018 Ferrari 488 Spider and 488 Pista sports cars; model-year 2015 458 Special A sports cars; model-year 2016-18 GTB sports cars and California T convertibles; model-year 2015-17 F12berlinetta sports cars and model-year 2016 F12tdf sports cars are being recalled due to airbag issues. The airbag electronic control unit may malfunction, possibly causing nondeployment or improper deployment of the airbags or seat belt pretensioners, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Ferrari began notifying owners on Aug 7. Owners can call the automaker at 201-816-2668 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will replace the airbag electronic control unit.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
