Hyundai is recalling certain model-year 2016-2018 Santa Fe,  2017-2018 Santa Fe Sport, 2019 Santa Fe XL, and 2014-2015 Tucson vehicles due to a fire risk. The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module could malfunction and cause an electrical short, potentially resulting in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving, increasing the risk of injury.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on April 5, 2022. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 855-371-9460 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To resolve the issue, dealers will replace the ABS multi-fuse, and inspect and replace the ABS module, as necessary. Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
