Nissan is recalling certain model-year 2014-15 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, model-year 2015-16 Murano Hybrid, and 2014-17 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid vehicles due to software issues. The Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM) software may shut down the hybrid system and the engine under certain driving conditions, causing a loss of drive power and increasing the risk of a crash.

Nissan began mailing owner notification letters on Dec. 3. Owners can call Nissan at 800-867-7669, Infiniti at 800-662-6200, or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will reprogram the HPCM software.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
