Audi is recalling approximately 26,000 model-year 2013-2017 A8, S6 Sedan, S7, S8, and 2014-2017 RS7 vehicles equipped to fix a problem with the turbocharger. A faulty oil strainer can become blocked and prevent oil from reaching the turbocharger bearings, potentially causing an engine stall and increasing the risk of a crash.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 20, 2022. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 800-253-2834 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will replace the oil strainer, change the oil, and check the turbocharger’s performance.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
