Approximately 151,200 model-year 2013-15 Santa Fe Sport SUVs are being recalled due to a potential fire hazard. Brake fluid may leak inside the antilock brake system module, which could lead to a short circuit and cause a fire in the engine compartment while parked or driving, increasing the risk of injury.

Hyundai will begin notifying owners on June 25. Owners can call the automaker at 855-371-9460 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To resolve the issue, dealers will replace the ABS multi-fuse and inspect and replace the ABS module as necessary. Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures as a precaution until the recall repair is complete.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
