Approximately 1,000 model-year 2012-2018 Bentley Mulsanne luxury sedans are being recalled due to seat belt issues. The rear seat belt anchor may detach in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Bentley began notifying owners in March. Owners can call the automaker at 800-777-6923 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To fix the problem, dealers will improve the strength of the rear seat belt mounting by adding an additional reinforcement panel to the body structure.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
