Approximately 144,900 model-year 2011-17 Volvo S60 and S60 Cross Country sedans, and V60 and V60 Cross Country wagons are being recalled due to door latch issues. A component in the door latches could break, making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading an occupant to believe a door is latched securely when it is not, increasing the risk of injury.

Volvo will begin notifying owners on Jan. 4. Owners can call the automaker at 800-458-1552 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 to learn more.

To remedy the issue, dealers will replace all four door latches.

Vehicle manufacturers are legally required to repair any recalled issues or replace the defective part for free under the Highway Safety Act of 1970. If the dealership refuses to fix the problem or attempts to charge you for the repair, contact the manufacturer immediately.
